ABOUT THE FUND

Our ability to meet our work force needs, particularly in the technology fields, will determine the success of our economic goals. Recognizing the critical nature of this preparation, MEDB has worked vigorously throughout its history to enhance education and training in our community.

To further support this growing need for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills, our board of directors created the MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund in 2006 as a grant making vehicle. The Fund stimulates community investment in broadening career pathways for Maui County residents.

Thanks to the many companies and individuals who responded to our appeal for support for the MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund in conjunction with our 25th Anniversary celebration, in 2007, we surpassed the fund's fundraising goal for the 2007-2008 grant period. Now we are readying for our upcoming “Pathways to our Future” event on August 21, 2008, which will again benefit hundreds of our students, educators and community stakeholders in Maui County.
