Construction

As Maui embarks on a course for continued success in the 21st century, the construction industry remains a vibrant economic force. Over 450 companies from across the island chain utilize a range of specialties to build the infrastructure to meet the future demands of businesses, industries and residents.

Statewide, since 1990, the industry’s job count remains close to peak levels and in Maui County over eight percent of the employed labor force works in construction. The latest data shows that in 2006 over 2,400 building permits were issued in the county with an approximate value of $9.7 billion.
